SUMMARY:

Maintaining and repairing various plant equipment. Responsible for housekeeping, inspection, maintenance and repair. Maintains employee communications and relationships and supports company goals.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Be able to have the skills required to do the various tasks associated with repairs and maintenance such as welding, grinding, drilling, tapping, etc. Troubleshoot, isolate defects, locate problems, correct, adjust, and repair plant systems and equipment.

Have a working knowledge of all the equipment used in the maintenance and machine shop and be able to operate the machines in the machine shop safely and efficiently.

Understand all plant safety procedures and safety equipment including electrical lock out-tag out procedures, the correct starting and stopping of machines, basic rigging procedures and the use of firefighting equipment and their locations. Locate and safely rig scaffolds, hydraulic lift equipment, ladders and similar devices used for maintenance operations that are elevated from the floor.

Be able to work with and communicate with the supervisor and others to coordinate repair work or accomplish projects working as a team. Know how to follow precise instructions and be able to take control of the assigned job and see it through to completion.

Maintain a clean and safe work area and report any unsafe conditions or machinery to the department supervisor. Train new employees on correct work procedures and methods.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Must have good math skills, ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

Must have the skills and ability to do the various tasks associated with repairs such as welding, grinding, drilling, tapping, etc.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

Highschool diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months job related experience and/or training.

Trained and certified to operate maintenance lift platforms and forklift certification preferred but not required, willing to train.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, drive, use fingers, handle or feel, reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl. The employee must regularly lift and or move weights up to 75 pounds, climb up and down from forklifts and ladder. Specific vision abilities are required by this job. Must be able to work at various heights, in constricting spaces, and in awkward positions.

REQUIREMENTS:

· Mechanically skilled, skilled in the theory, design, operation and care of machinery.

· Good reading and writing skills.

· Knowledgeable in the use of tape measure, calculator, and basic computer functions.

· The ability to work cooperatively as a team member. Good communication skills. The ability to follow instructions with precision.

· Self-motivated, quality conscious, positive attitude and opportunistic. Good attendance and punctuality.

· The ability to work overtime when necessary.

· Must have the ability to perform the physical demands of the job.

· Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screen.

Salary: $25.00-$35.00 depending on experience
