Job Summary

Ferche Millwork is seeking an experienced Director / Head of Commercial Sales to lead and scale the company’s commercial sales organization.

Primary Objective:

Grow Ferche’s commercial sales channel and architect specification pipeline while expanding and strengthening the company’s national independent sales representative network.

This role will be responsible for driving revenue growth, expanding Ferche’s presence in the commercial construction market, and building a high-performing national sales organization focused on architectural wood door frames, fire-rated assemblies, and related millwork products.

The Director of Commercial Sales will lead both direct commercial sales initiatives and a national network of independent sales representatives, while developing strategic relationships with architects, distributors, contractors, and commercial building product buyers.

The ideal candidate will bring deep experience in the doors, frames, and hardware (DFH) industry, along with a proven track record of growing sales through specification-driven markets, managing rep agencies, and expanding distribution channels.

This is a remote leadership role with travel required to support key customers, sales representatives, and industry events.

Key Responsibilities

Sales Leadership & Strategy

  • Develop and execute Ferche’s commercial sales strategy to accelerate revenue growth.
  • Establish clear sales targets, pipeline management processes, and performance metrics.
  • Identify and pursue growth opportunities across commercial, institutional, healthcare, education, and multi-family construction markets.
  • Partner with executive leadership on pricing strategy, product positioning, and market expansion initiatives.
  • Lead development of Ferche’s architect specification strategy to increase inclusion in commercial construction projects.

Commercial Business Development

  • Develop strong relationships with commercial distributors, contractors, developers, and architectural firms.
  • Expand Ferche’s presence in architect-specified projects, particularly for fire-rated wood door frames and architectural millwork systems.
  • Identify and pursue regional and national account opportunities across commercial construction markets.
  • Engage with design professionals early in project cycles to drive product specification.

Sales Organization & Rep Network Development

  • Build, manage, and expand a national network of independent sales representative agencies.
  • Recruit and onboard new rep agencies in underrepresented geographic markets.
  • Provide structured training, sales tools, and product education to maximize rep productivity.
  • Implement sales enablement programs and performance accountability frameworks across the rep network.
  • Work closely with internal leadership to align sales initiatives with operational capabilities.

Market Intelligence & Product Strategy

  • Monitor industry trends, competitive dynamics, and customer demand across commercial construction markets.
  • Provide insights to leadership regarding new product opportunities, pricing strategies, and market positioning.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to support product development and commercialization initiatives.

Technical Expertise & Industry Engagement

  • Serve as a subject matter expert on commercial wood door frames, fire-rated assemblies, and architectural hardware compatibility.
  • Support key project discussions involving specifications, code requirements, and product applications.
  • Represent Ferche at industry conferences, architectural events, and commercial construction forums.

Required Qualifications

  • 10+ years of commercial sales experience within the Doors, Frames, and Hardware (DFH) industry or closely related commercial building products sector.
  • Minimum 5+ years of experience selling commercial doors, door frames, and/or architectural hardware systems.
  • Proven success working with architects, contractors, and commercial distributors.
  • Experience managing or supporting independent sales representative networks.
  • Strong understanding of specification-driven sales processes within commercial construction.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and execute sales growth strategies across multiple geographic markets.
  • Excellent leadership, negotiation, and communication skills.
  • Ability to travel as required to support customers and sales representatives.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience scaling a national commercial sales organization.
  • Experience selling architectural millwork or specialty building products.
  • Existing relationships with commercial distributors, architects, and contractors.

Compensation

Highly competitive base salary plus an attractive commission and incentive structure tied to commercial revenue growth and sales performance.
