Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Commercial Sales Manager to lead our commercial sales strategy and support our external sales representatives. The ideal candidate will have deep technical knowledge of commercial doors, door frames, and architectural hardware. This role is crucial for driving sales growth through product training, customer presentations, and serving as the primary technical expert for our agents and clients on all product and service-related inquiries.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Sales & Business Development Support

  • Outside Sales Support: Travel extensively to accompany and support outside sales representatives in client meetings, job site visits, and presentations to key decision-makers (distributors, dealers, architects & contractors).
  • Product Expertise: Act as the company's leading technical resource on all hardwood door frames, fire-rated assemblies, and compatibility with commercial door hardware.
  • Relationship Management: Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with major commercial customers, distributors, and specifiers within the territory.
  • Sales Strategy: Collaborate with the leadership team to develop and implement commercial sales plans, competitive strategies, and pricing proposals to meet quarterly and annual sales targets.
  • Product Development: Understand the needs of the customers and the demands of the marketplace to develop new and innovative products to bring to market.

Training & Education

  • Product Training: Design and deliver comprehensive training programs for our network of independent sales agents, equipping them with the knowledge to effectively sell and specify our products.
  • Customer Presentations: Conduct professional, high-impact presentations and lunch-and-learns for architectural firms, general contractors, and end-users to educate them on the features, benefits, and proper installation of our hardwood door frames.
  • Technical Documentation: Assist in the creation and maintenance of technical sales materials, specifications sheets, and product guides.

Customer Service & Technical Support

  • Primary Point of Contact (POC): Serve as the first point of contact for complex service requests, warranty claims, and technical disputes related to product application and performance.
  • Resolution Management: Investigate, document, and resolve product quality or service issues in a timely and professional manner, collaborating with the production and quality assurance teams.
  • Field Communication: Relay critical market feedback, product issues, and competitive intelligence to the internal management and product development teams.

Required Qualifications

  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years of successful commercial sales, technical support, or project management experience ideally within the doors, frames, and hardware (DFH) industry.
  • Technical Knowledge: Extensive and verifiable technical understanding of commercial wood door frames, fire-rated wood door assemblies, and the application of architectural hardware (e.g., fire-ratings, hinges, closers, locksets).
  • Communication Skills: Exceptional presentation, negotiation, and written communication skills.
  • Travel Capability: Must be willing and able to travel frequently (~50) with overnight stays required.

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, or a related field is preferred, or equivalent professional experience.

Compensation & Benefits

Competitive salary based on experience. Range $55-100k. Includes comprehensive benefits package, paid time off, and business travel expense reimbursement.
