Grinds all scrap wood and edgings, load pickups and trailers with scrap wood. Dispose of waste by performing the following duties efficiently and safely. Operate skid loader, forklift, and wood waste grinder. Communicate with coworkers.


Drives skid loader safely and efficiently following all work rules and safe operating procedures.

Responsible for loading shavings and keep area clean and organized.

Drives forklift safely and efficiently following all work rules and safe operating procedures. Assists forklift drivers when necessary and fills in as a back-up operator as needed.

Loads scrap wood with skid loader without damaging personal property, trucks and trailers.

Communicate effectively with management and co-workers.

Help monitor and compute amount of stock in silo based on production schedules and remove material from storage area.

Keep minimum level of raw material in silo.

Responsible for operating semi-tractor for sawdust loading in all weather conditions and under space constraints.

Assumes full responsibility for maintaining quality and minimize the damage to equipment during the loading process of truck and trailers. Cleaning in and around wood waste area/silo loading system.

Performs minimum maintenance on wood waste equipment and skid loader. Changing or blowing out filters on air lock of loading system

Performs reading and writing functions, interpreting documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals, and loading schedules.

Reports all inaccuracies and damage to equipment.

Housekeeping functions, maintaining clean traffic of road ways throughout the plant, in and out of boiler rooms and in and around wood waste systems as time permits.


High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training.


Forklift Certification.

Skid Loader Certification.

Good safety record.


While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, drive and climb up and down skid loader and forklifts. Occasionally climb up ladder of silo for maintenance and inspections. Walk, use hands, finger, handle, or feel, reach with hands and arms; stoop and kneel. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds.


  • Ability to operate skid loader and forklift safely and determine when maintenance is needed.
  • Ability to perform all the physical requirements listed in the physical assessment.
  • Good reading and writing skills; basic math skills: add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals.
  • Possess strong mechanical aptitude and able to use hand tools, read production schedules, equipment and safety manuals and measuring instruments.
  • Knowledgeable in the use of tape measure, calculator and the ability to learn basic computer functions.
  • Self-motivation with the ability to work independently with minimal supervision; possess good communication skills and keep a good attendance record.
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screen.
