CAD and catalog new and old profiles. Assist all departments with milling and profile questions. Maintain records and communications. Advise management of the tool room’s mechanical condition, safe operation, performance, and product quality. Be responsible for proper material utilization and support company goals.


Help as needed in tool room and repair grease guns.

Keep tool room supplied including saw blades for the plant.

Draw (CAD blueprint) and catalog profiles, new and old, and equipment parts. Draw (CAD) and cut templates for profiles consistent with moulder operation.

Maintain various knowledge bases and records regarding tool room and milling equipment plant wide. Maintain computer profile folders for unnecessary files.

Troubleshoot, isolate defects, locate problems, correct, adjust and repair milling problems plant wide.

Assist all departments with profile questions.

Purchase tooling at reasonable prices. Keep an open mind and research alternative products, milling materials, and methods.

Trains and assists in orientation of newly hire employees.

Theory and operation of saw blades.

Good organizational skills.

Able to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio and percent.

Possess strong mechanical aptitude ad able to use hand tools, read blue prints and measuring instruments.

Knowledge of wood species and characteristics.


High school diploma or general education degree (GED); 2-year degree recommended with emphasis on computers, mathematics, and CAD.

Experience with Autodesk AutoCAD, Microsoft Excel and macros; knowledge of theory and operation of moulders.


While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to stand, walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds.


  • Basic understanding or moulder operations
  • Problem solving skills.
  • Good mechanical aptitude and equipment knowledge, ability to use hand and power tools.
  • Knowledgeable in the use of measuring instruments such as tape measures, calipers, ruler, square, and compass.
  • Good math skills with the ability to add, subtract, multiple, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, decimals, and degrees.
  • Ability to follow product specifications, drawings, customer orders and production schedules.
  • Ability to give instructions and oversee product quality, material utilization and order completion.
  • Knowledge in the use of computers, retrieving information pertaining to product and customer orders.
  • Ability to perform all the required job functions of the company’s product graders, inspecting product quality, machining, color, knots, cracks, and other defects unacceptable to product standards.
  • Positive attitude, cooperative, and self-motivated; ability to work as a team member.
  • Good communication skills to maintain effective relationships, providing information, comments and concerns to supervision.
  • Safety conscious, assist in training and maintaining a safe working environment, enforcing all plant safety rules and safe operating procedures, inspecting equipment for safety hazards and reporting all mechanical malfunctions hazards.
  • Good attendance and the ability to work overtime when needed.
