Alder
Alder, with its lower cost, has sometimes been referred to as the "poor man's cherry". It has a similar color and graining, but is considerably lighter and softer. Alder has a short length structure and will be available in mouldings 10' long and shorter, and, widths up to 6". Clear alder may have limited availability and may contain tight pin knots without being considered defective. Knotty Alder can have broken knots with holes up to the size of a dime. |
